Today, I went snowshoeing on the Rax, at an altitude of about 1,700 m, with a super-cool lady. We had 40 cm of wonderful fresh snow. In the many snowdrifts, we sometimes sank 70 cm deep. Because of the avalanche warning and for more wind protection, we stayed mainly in the hilly forest. Not a soul in sight, no tracks in front of us in the snow. It was absolutely beautiful!

Yesterday: mountain hike'n'run through 🧊 & ❄️ to the Krummbachstein, 1,602 m. With fantastic views of the neighboring Rax and Schneeberg mountains. Very cool: it's only an hour's train ride from Vienna, and you can actually start and finish right on the platform. 21 km with 1,250 m elevation gain at -2 °C.

I survived my very first #snowshoe tour!!! I planned a fairly challenging hike that is currently impossible to complete without snowshoes. And I wanted to avoid heavy touring skis and ski boots for once. It was great!

Yesterday, #Hiking in the #Mountains at approx. 2,000 m, with 1,600 m EG. In #Vienna, it was foggy and cold, but on the #Rax, there was a bright blue sky with no wind and temperatures between 8 and 12°C. Not a soul in sight, wonderful silence. At the #Habsburghaus, it was so overwhelmingly beautiful that it took the greatest willpower to leave at all. Descent in the dark, on a steep snowy and icy path. With good crampons, of course.

#Trailrunning last Friday: Hike'n'Run over the #Krummbachstein, with great views of #Rax & #Schneeberg, with 1,300 m EG. Partly through 20-50 cm deep snow. 1h steep descent through the dark forest – not ideal if you don't have a headlamp with you. The best thing about the tour: easily accessible from #Wien, and the start/finish is right on the train platform!

2 days ago, I escaped the fog in #Vienna. In the Alps, the sky was bright blue. I climbed the very exposed Haid-Steig #ViaFerrata with 420 m EG. The start is at 1,400 m. Towards the end, it became dangerous in an unsecured passage without any handholds; one slip and I would have been in the valley faster than I would have liked. The most interesting passage led through a long, deep crack. In the first picture, you can see a 15-m ladder leading there.
