I've started ripping up worn out flannel nighties to make a rag rug, with worn out flannel sheets to follow shortly. It's a surprisingly peaceful occupation (RRRIIIPPPPPP).

@RomComLove I’ve done #ragrugs but have just got a punch needle which should be faster than hand tufting wool rugs … hopefully.
#ragrugs made this one a while ago. Next project will be a punch needle one using up wool left overs from #knitting #crochet . Never used a #punchneedle before … any tips?

Everything took longer than expected, but loom is dressed and weaving has commenced. Forgot how fussy the worms can be. This warp should give 3 rugs, about 100" each. First one will be dominant browns and greens. #weaving #RagRugs

current project. braiding a carpet from a old sun faded rug rag i dismantled, just to discover that the rags are still very bright in parts not visible in old rug.

i’m sewing this together by hand with leftover sock yarn.

the whites and greens and blacks are all from the olde rug, yellows are flea market finds. there’s also a bag of coral rags that wait for their turn in the wheel. #RagRug #RagRugs #Recycling #Craft #recyclingOld

We have more worn-out T-shirts than I’ve known what to do with, and I want to use the simplest possible method to turn them into a rag rug. I finally tried a sample of the idea I’d had.

I’ve looked at enough pictures and books about rag rugs that I’m guessing this is an existing method; I just didn’t feel like looking it up to see what it’s called. Anyway: strips of cloth held together with blanket stitch.

I think my proof of concept works.
