Watched Tip Toe in one go. That was a hard watch and brought me right down.

But not surprising.

There's a difference for us queer folks about who we are and who others perceive us to be, usually negatively & unspoken.

We can be the best and they still hate us.

And it's not just a minority.

Many characters talk about maybe it going 'too far' - I don't believe that, but it's the down side of visibility, the dark days of hiding in pubs with blacked out windows are not to be valorised - we become a target.

But Leo's comments of 'what if they still don't like us?' ring very true to me.

I know if anything happens to me, it will probably be presented in a bad light. No matter what I did because of who I am.

It already happens - I get accused like Leo of 'grooming' by randoms online - which is fucking HILARIOUS because I go for a grandfather age group, not grandkids. Usually 50+.

Half Man, produced by Thistledown Pictures and Mam Tor Production for the BBC and HBO, is one of the most poignant series I have ever watched. It fascinates, repulses, and grips me in equal measure.

When I started watching, I already knew David was going to fall in love with a man named Patrick. On several occasions, I’d seen men answering prompts in their dating profiles — “I’m just a David, looking for my Patrick”.

I love Dungeons and Dragons, and I love LGBT D&D content, so I was quite pleased to learn that the second Critical Roll campaign, The Mighty Nein, had been adapted into an animated series of the same name, because that original tabletop playthrough was quite queer.

Netflix’s The Summer Hikaru Died (TSHD) and Apple TV’s Pluribus both have “Body Snatcher” type plot lines: an entity has access to all your loved one’s memories, is inhabiting a body that isn’t their own, and is fixated on being close to you.
They’re also both deeply sad shows about gay loss.

Ace Ventura wasn’t the only culprit. The 1990s were filled with sketches, sitcoms, and movies that called mockery “progress.” This essay is about what that laughter really cost us.
