After walking around the table for about an hour, I took the plunge and cut the white diamond into 4 triangles. I ran a quick row of stitching around the edges just to discourage pieces unravelling.

I'm pretty chuffed with how it looks. Obviously there's miles still to go. QAYG - so I'll do the white triangles with a sunray pattern, but I'm still thinking about how to quilt the topaz. I'm not a free motion quilter so it will be straight line echo quilting or something similar.

I'm working on a #QAYG project, and have never done one before. It really appeals to me because I don't get bored. When I'm weary of piecing, I can #quilt a block. I'm struggling with squaring the blocks, and have no clue how to connect the batting and backing, but the first two (of 12, I think) blocks are connected on the top, at least.

I *finally* got the #quilting stuff out and did some cutting. Cutting is (by far) my least favorite part of the whole process and seems to create a total blockade for me. But, I cut out the borders for a bunch of blocks and some 8" blocks. My plan is to have 1 or 2 paper pieced blocks with pictures on each row, and the print blocks in between. I'm using the blue fabric for borders, but only because I have more of it. I think the pink would look better. This is my first #QAYG project.

The gnome block is coming together. I’ll stitch the pieces together tomorrow, and the will have a unicorn, a butterfly, and a gnome. The unicorn and butterfly are smaller, so I’ll add to them. I’ve never done a quilt as you go project before, but I’m having fun with this one. #quilt #QAYG #gnome #FoundationPaperPiecing
