I rarely paint faces - the most successful paintings I did are all faceless - but if I do it is usually a self-portrait. This is quite common for artists - study and draw themselves. At the end, we are our first models, always available.

This painting is called Protea - named after a flower my friend gave me as a birthday gift. I was so fascinated by that flower so I immediately painted it. It was back in 2017.

Taken at sunset on the slopes of Table Mountain this is a Wagon Tree. It is a member of the protea family (Protea Nitida) and indigenous to the Fynbos Biome
It gets its name from the fact that it produced wood strong enough to repair the ox wagons used by early settlers.
