The photograph/avatar is of an ostrich looking directly at the camera. It is looking impish mainly because it had just tried to pull my wedding ring off my finger and failed. I got the feeling it wanted a second try.

While watching the sunset in the Cederberg Mountains a Cape Grey Mongoose came looking for a snack. He was served raw egg and finished the yolk only then disappeared into the bush again

Victorian Fountain in the Company Gardens, Cape Town.
In the 1960's and 1970's was in Boy Scouts for over a decade, starting as a Cub and ending up as a Springbok Scout.
Every time I went to an event I would to my mother's horror swap scarves with a scout from another troop.
At the end of my scouting career I ended up with 35 scarves which with a lot of help from my, wife and a quilting expert I turned into a quilt.

The Camdeboo Plains seen the edge of the Valley of Desolation.
Tafelberg Road, Cape Town with Platteklip Kloof [Gorge] rising to the top of Table Mountain.
The kloof is the easiest, safest and most boring way to cl8mb the mountain. The route is a zig zag stepped path that rises and the higher you the less you can see as the kloof closes in on you.
On top Cape Town stretches out around you and you realise that the view is worth the boredom of the climb
