After setting up Batocera, I noticed that all emulators work insanely well except for the N64. Spent a lot of time just tweaking on per game level which sounds very tedious (but can be fun)

I was wondering why n64 emulation is such a mess compared to psx where everything just works out of the box.

Just discovered a good video about why Nintendo 64 emulation is still a mess in 2025 🤯

(I had no idea about the microcode aspect which ofcourse makes emulation a nightmare)

The bottom-line takeaway is basically: just get original hardware if you want a good and consistent n64 experience 🤣
