昨日は、ミラノ工科大学の博士課程学生による PhD Talk に参加。ミラノ市内のヒートアイランド現象と綠被との関係について、伝統的な都市研究のテーマに衛星リモセンと最新のAI技術を組み合わせて再考するアプローチ。コンピューターサイエンスが軸足であるために、現実の植生をどう捉えるのかといった議論が興味深かった。例えばNDVIって簡単な計算式だけれど、NDVIが何を意味するのか深く考えるとまだまだ奥が深いのと同様、DN値と現実との紐付け方は深淵に迫るほど面白くなる。
