En fait il est beaucoup trop court pour rendre hommage à ce texte d'un Nobel oublié (1973), publié en 1955 mais à ranger dans la catégorie des intemporels sur lesquels les modes ou les tendances n'ont aucune prise. J'en parle comme je peux, j'espère que vous vous ferez le cadeau de lire ce texte sublime 🙂

Merci. C'est le premier mot qui me vient à l'esprit en refermant ce livre gigantesque à tous points de vue. Nous avons passé une dizaine de jours ensemble, sa densité appelle de la concentration, le plaisir en est décuplé. Ce roman a soixante-dix ans...
#vendredilecture Ce "petit" bijou écrit par le seul lauréat océanien du Nobel de litterature date de 1955 et n'avait encore jamais été traduit en français. C'est enfin fait et bien fait grâce à l'éditeur Au vent des îles et au traducteur David Fauquemberg. Et moi je me régale de cette langue inventive, vivante, de ce style impeccable mais jamais sage, de cette puissance dans l'évocation de l'immatériel et de l'impermanence. C'est sublime, je savoure.

Finished the book that contained our cat's death as well. It ended with another 5 deaths. Expected since it covered a life..
Made me think about the deaths I attended: great grandma of my cousins, grandpa from my father side, my mother, my uncle in Germany, pets..
And the deaths I did not attend because I was not in the country.. 3 grandparents and an uncle. I regret not being there; like those people's life stories din not have a proper ending.

Went on a trip with the scouts last weekend and grabbed a book from the bookshelves. I wanted the tree of man, but accidentally got this. And now I'm gonna finish it. 2/3 done.
