Physicians learn to write a history that supports their clinical conclusion. A med student history is complex and confounding because it’s real, a practitioner history makes the conclusion obvious. (Because it assumes the conclusion.)

In retirement managing my own health issues and those of family I write my own history and hand it to my caregiver. It guides the process to my diagnosis and plan and speeds up the visit so much that we actually have time to talk and plan.

Dental patient tip #1
A really good way to annoy a dentist or hygienist is to cross and uncross your legs while they are working.
The movement also moves your head, which is unexpected at best and could be harmful depending on what sharp tools they might be holding.
Do you fidget a lot? Bring a stress ball for your hand! The movement is much less intrusive to those trying to care for you. They will appreciate it.
