I’m not sure I know anyone who uses Linux for serious audio production, blind or not.

There’s a whole community of people who do. 🙂 They have an IRC channel called #opensourcemusicians on irc.libera.chat. When I started using Linux at the age of 18, I was studying both music and applied art…and that community was an indispensable help.

I have been having fun getting back into working on a track. I'm mixing a song from a friend of mine on #opensourcemusicians channel on Freenode. Maybe a bit of producing as well, depending on where one were to try to draw the line between the two (it's kind of a moving line in my book). I'm almost done with it. I'm getting a bit nervous, now. I hope he likes what I did with it.
@daggerhartrocks @draco Carla is a plugin program that supports all manner of VSTs, including Windows VSTs using WINE. I haven't used them myself, but there are plenty of others who can. Carla is part of KX Studio, and I believe there's a PPA you can access to install it, though I'm on Arch, so I won't be much help there. If you use IRC, folks in #opensourcemusicians or #lau on Freenode should be able to help you out with getting up and running.
@unfa The Linux /fOSS audio communities are so fragmented as it is. Freenode has several different channels for FOSS, including #opensourcemusicians (which is the channel I typically hang in), #lau for Linux Audio Users, #lad for Linux Audio Developers... Matrix has several channels, there is the LAU forum... I'd more recommend connecting with the community where they already are instead of fragmenting it further.

Current status of my open source guitar pedalboard project. Now the digital audio converter is stacked but still can be powered by a power bank. Im having troubles with the sound quality though. #raspi #raspberrypi #linuxmusicians #linux #opensourcemusicians #opensource #guitar

Thanks! I've tried mastodon.social, but feel lost in the shuffle of so many peeps. I noticed this was focused on musicians, and so I figured I give it a try! I'm part of the #opensourcemusicians community on #freenode and try to look for some good #ccmusic talent. I'm also an amateur hobbyist programmer. Thanks for allowing me to join your community!
