@raroun
hi again. i've been using various other instances since my last post to you on this topic, but the blunt reality is that your instance still provides the best overall rounded UX wrt both account & hashtag fetching. however, i remain most anxious NOT to cause you problems on your server, from my following the number of hashtags that i do, atm ~130 (but it fluctuates).

my sincere question to you thus is: if i were to resume my normal daily activity in my account on your instance, would that place your hardware under an excessive burden which would then ofc be unacceptable & unviable for you?

i feel obligated to wait for your opinion, rather than just blunder ahead & unwittingly make things bad for you.

ta.

@msdropbear @wansti oh wow, i was wrong... this latest test-post HAS escaped the gravitational field of #FriendicaAU & happily made it to the outside world, coz here it is after all, in my #OpensocialSpace account ๐ŸŽ‰ ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿ’ƒ

well, it transpired that my erstwhile default daily #Friendica fedi, #OpensocialSpace, from which i write/send this post, remains my default daily Friendica fedi, coz:

  • after a day or two, it seems to have come good again, with that latest bout of The Wobblies behind it afaict
  • my oldest remaining Friendica instance, #AnonsysNet , sadly remains too frustrating to use as my daily, for reasons that originally sent me forth from it, a coupla years ago, in the endless quest for a better Friendica instance [eg, its most topical failing now, as always, is that the custom Channels i created in it (identical to those i create in all other Friendica instances i use), simply do not fetch ANY posts for the configured hashtags, & despite manual searches for those hashtags returning viable hits... grrrrrrrrrrr, tis so annoying!]. its Admin historically rarely/never replies to my posts.
  • Mel's private instance #FarcebookSpace, remains great in all aspects except for the fatal flaw of just not federating well enough for most of my saved hashtag searches, either manual or Channels. every time i try to return to this instance as my possible daily, this unsolved hashtag PITA drives me away again. tis a pity!
  • after much indecision, t'other day i did in fact press ahead & create a new account on the new Oz Friendica server, #FriendicaAU, full of hope & thrill. alas, subsequently disappointed, eg:
    • the server refuses to accept my attempts to change the initial auto-generated password it sent me at registration
    • its hashtag federation seems to be slightly better than FarcebookSpace, much better than AnonsysNet, but much worse than OpensocialSpace, ipso facto, untenable for daily use atm
    • incomprehensibly, afaict, NONE of my attempted Outbound posts from it, actually transmit! they give an appearance of having Sent, but:
      • two test-posts i sent to myself at some of my other instances, never arrived
      • a post i sent to one of my Mutuals, who is active & responsive daily with my other instances, remains Unreplied-to [coz i suspect they never received it]
      • a post i sent to the instance Admin, @wansti, remains Unreplied-to [coz i suspect they never received it]

oh well. ๐Ÿค”๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

@raroun @helpers within the past fortnight i discovered a new theme has been added, gnome, which is a much nicer alternative to the existing dark & black themes. despite me being a kde plasma fangirl, heehee. thanks for it.

one minor quibble with it is that unlike all the other themes, this one does not readily highlight the new items in the Notifications menu dropdown, instead subtly using just the theme's accent colour at the extremities. that works, but IMO it would still be desired to assign an obvious contrast background colour to the new items, like the other themes.

given clearly i am wishlist-dreaming atm, one other desirable enhancement would be to let users pick their own custom accent colour, for this & other themes.

@MsDropbear42 @raroun @msdropbear @raroun updated status fwiw: now 3 hours later, & still my posts of this morning have not even begun the transmission process [the icon is still the hollow hourglass]. am using this, my alternative #Friendica account, as a result.

@[email protected] @[email protected] good morning, guten nacht. sadly the server seems to be again jammed up --- no post i have made within at least the past hour has even begun to transmit, though upvoting & receiving still seem to work well. fyi.

@heluecht oh wow, that's great news, thx. ๐Ÿค— [albeit also somewhat inconvenient in that any time i wish to add any new relay.fedi.buzz accounts i have to involve my instance-admin, rather than simply do it myself like in my sharkey & masto accounts]

i have three remaining #friendica accounts, so here's a question to each of
- @MelissaBearTrix #farcebookspace
- @raroun #opensocialspace
- @tux #anonsysnet

pls would you each be kind enough to apply Michael's advice, which if i understand correctly, means:

@raroun hello there! this is Droppie from her new, replacement, account for the broken, now deleted, [email protected]. this replacement account is behaving perfectly, afaict, including excellent responsiveness [so many of the older Friendica accounts i have had, elsewhere, suffered from agonisingly poor latency, with almost every interaction; yours is nicely fast]. the only major difference in origin is that this time i created a standard clean account then manually set up all my settings & contacts... whereas with the prior account, as you recall, i had used that experimental profile-import tool, via the link at the bottom of the registration page. i know that does not prove this was the root cause of all the subsequent problems, but afaict it seems a pretty strong bit of circumstantial evidence. IMO, it might be better to remove that option, until someone is able to properly validate the tool is not defective.

once again, thank you for your help, & for running a lovely instance!
