@blahaj @ada right, so not only YT, also DM nfg in #sharkey, sigh.

there's always something, no matter all my
#fedihopping, i still simply cannot find The Perfect Fedi SW πŸ₯Ί

@raroun hello there! this is Droppie from her new, replacement, account for the broken, now deleted, [email protected]. this replacement account is behaving perfectly, afaict, including excellent responsiveness [so many of the older Friendica accounts i have had, elsewhere, suffered from agonisingly poor latency, with almost every interaction; yours is nicely fast]. the only major difference in origin is that this time i created a standard clean account then manually set up all my settings & contacts... whereas with the prior account, as you recall, i had used that experimental profile-import tool, via the link at the bottom of the registration page. i know that does not prove this was the root cause of all the subsequent problems, but afaict it seems a pretty strong bit of circumstantial evidence. IMO, it might be better to remove that option, until someone is able to properly validate the tool is not defective.

once again, thank you for your help, & for running a lovely instance!

another test post

earlier tests, to discover indicative latency of this instance, disappointed me with one being 5', one being 2', & others that i did not formally time feeling like they took yonks.

am about to press the button, at local time 16:53.

@MelissaBearTrix @beartrix now that you mention it i might, or might not, have the vaguest of half-recollections that we might, or might not, have chatted about this some earlier time. alas, my goldfish memory lets me down all the... oooh, that's a shiny pebble!

but but but, pls do [now being semi-serious, kinda sorta] tell me more, Mel. i know nothing, truly nada, about networks, databases, server maintenance & upkeep, server security et al, so despite your kind offer it would be certainly disastrous to make me admin of... well, pretty much anything, tbh.

so, how do you look after it [not meaning to be rude, but do you know about those things i listed, above?]? where is your instance hosted? how do you do software updates [again, not trying to be rude, but afaict your version is not current]?

the idea of a domestic instance run by a safe peep is most appealing, & i do feel sorely tempted to try... but i also have an eye on the longer term. a lot of my historic #fedihopping was due to instances shutting down, or simply developing chronic problems they seemed unable to solve, so, unless you know how to do all that stuff [given, again, i know zilcho], i'd hesitate to take up your most kind joining offer, for fear that no matter how well it might work now, down the track all the wheels might fall off if nobody is keeping all the stuff behind the green curtain "looked after".

again Mel, not trying to be rude, not to insult you, but just wanna better understand what's what... ta.

hi & sorry, anyone inconvenienced by this.

the #Friendica software still intrigues me, but alas, for a long time now this instance [anonsys.net] keeps experiencing very frequent server problems for me, which the Admin seems unable to resolve afaict. so, today i went looking again, & have created an account at another Friendica instance, with my new account being @[email protected] .

over my fedi-years i have tried several Friendica instances, & it seems that if the servers are going to manifest problems for me, the buggers seem only to do it after i have "loaded up" my account with all my Preferences, & ofc all my #hashtag & peep Follows... which thereafter ofc is a PITA for Followers & me alike if the server then goes wobbly. for now, as i finish currently setting up this new instance, i can only hope this server will prove to be robust 🀞

#fedihopping

@thomas @MsDropbear42 tis true. comes from the fact that they all have their pros, & their cons, & over time my tolerance to the respective ratios of those factors for the different fedi-softwares varies.

an analogy is linux. over the years i did much distrohopping, to learn about the range of possibilities, thereafter it was easier to narrow down, coz we have so many configurability options to tweak everything just so. otoh for fediverse s/w, as a mere user i have far less options to tweak, hence periodically the urge to hop returns. grass is greener syndrome, perhaps.

#fedihopping

if anyone wishes to know...

from soon after posting this [being from my
#blahajzone #sharkey account] me be gonna hop back over to my #Friendica account [@[email protected] ] to see how long i can last there again this time... might be hours, might be days, might be months, dunno yet. πŸ€”πŸ€·πŸ³πŸŒ»

i think i will migrate to firefish on https://infosec.town/

Also, I tried rm -rf / on your terminal and was disappointed that it didn't work.
