really enjoying recent / ongoing nice little enhancements in my :firefoxnightly: πŸ’œοΈ

#AltText
snippet of firefox nightly context menu after right-clicking on a tab in the native vertical tabbar, yellow-highlighting some nice recent enhancements, including ability to split tab views, add notes to tab, reopen tab in alternative containers [this one not new, but no chromium browser has it, so still noteworthy], & the main one focused being at last [given vivaldi has had this for many years] the ability to move the focused tab to any of the user's other Profiles

#TIL that now in :firefoxnightly: & thus i intuit also ff-beta...

bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.…

Verified fixed with Firefox 150.0b1 on Windows 11, macOS 15, and Ubuntu 24 that a Split View is successfully created when using Alt/Opt + clicking a tab with a different selected tab.

the bugger-factor though is that this is a native FF function, thus atm anyway is not available in AOs #Sidebery & #TreeStyleTab -- thus if using either, one needs to also still have access to the native tabs. In :firefoxnightly: i do that via a script that moves the native horizontal tab strip to the bottom, then autohides it. Meanwhile [depending on which Profile i'm using] for general browsing i use TST or S on the LHS.

@MelissaBearTrix

hi @wansti @frauadmin hope you're well

within the past couple of days i finally decided to press ahead with completing the setup of my account here, after stalling for weeks with indecision about the disappointing #HashtagFetching from fedi. other than that, my account on your instance seems to be running very sweetly, so thank you very much.

i like using #FOSSemojis in many of my posts, but like several other friendicas i've tried in recent years, yours initially has very few custom emojis, as shown here; emojos.in/friendica.au . though i don't know details of the method, i believe from my interactions with other instance Admins that it's quite simple to import more emojis from other instances. eg, suitable ones include emojos.in/friendica.opensocial… and emojos.in/farcebook.space . my friend Mel owns that latter instance, & she "simply" imported the emojis from the former.

would you be willing to also do this pls?

@mrcopilot i really like #kdelinux . have it in a few VMs, & for a few weeks also had it installed to SSD as my third-boot that i used daily. eventually replaced it with #kinoite coz there's some stuff i need to layer [don't work well in a #distrobox or as #flatpak]. also, i need to be able to manually partition. however i fervently hope that by the beta it might be further advanced enough in those areas that i could reinstall it.

TL;DR

Is it possible to use FollowBackBot - [email protected] on Friendica instances?

BACKGROUND

hello

i have accounts on two small Friendica instances, this one & also @msdropbear42

being small, they both have, to be blunt, really lousy hashtag-fetching behaviour from the wider fediverse. given i follow a lot of tags [these are as important or maybe even more so, than simply following only personal accounts, for me], this ongoing lousiness poses a real threat for my two accounts having any prospect of being serious daily fediverse "homes" for me, given both instances miss out on a large proportion of posts / tags that i routinely see each day in my Masto & Sharkey accounts.

I have tried using relay.fedi.buzz follows, eg [email protected] on another of my friendica accounts, but tbh it's a PITA coz i cannot simply do it myself, but instead must explicitly request the instance owner to manually add them at the server level via terminal. that kills all spontaneity for me.

recently i became aware of FollowBackBot - [email protected] [read the whole thread if you want all the background; https://friendica.au/display/7c8d90bc-252d65d8d081ff63-cb0df0a1], but in none of my friendica accounts am i able to actually follow it. eg, in this current account, the pic below shows the failure:

can anyone pls help me solve this?

RE: gts.sadauskas.id.au/users/aj/s…

'sposed to get to 26 today, currently 22

tis tolerably pleasant atm in sunroom

still unpleasantly chilly in study

but proper pooter is in study, whilst merely lappy is in sunroom

so now i'm stuck doing little lappy things, when i wanna be doing big pooter things

but i dislike shivering

someone should blow up seasons

#dropbearpooterising

i spend most of my time on my proppa pooter, the tower in my Study. however in colder weather when the Study [SE corner of house, with trees that block direct morning sun] is too chilly til arvos, i use lappy in Sunroom [NE corner of house, big windows E & N, so quite glorious for those morning rays in winter]. but lappy, poor ol' girl, is a 2011 dell xps-15 with semi-dodgy keyboard [green tea incident yonks back, alas] & most unambiguous "battery issues". tis just sad to watch the battery gauge actually begin dropping from the moment i unplug. these days she just squeaks thru to the hour mark. poor dear, she's old n tired.

in unrelated news, geez those fools who anthropomorphise inanimate objects are wollybutts, eh! πŸ€ͺ️

#dropbearpooterising #LinuxWomen

i do exasperate myself sometimes with my changing sensibilities wrt my preferred  #font. i keep toggling twixt #RobotoCondensed, and #NimbusSansNarrow . For the past several weeks i'd set it to the latter, but after a few [or several?] days of dissatisfaction with it, i've now toggled back to the former... yet again. based on history it seems inevitable that in another coupla months i'll likely jump back again.

otoh in #Plasma itself, i do seem reasonably settled with #NotoSansExtraCondensed -- this seems generally to survive much longer before i feel the urge to change it, compared to in my browser.

damn dopey dropbear! πŸ™„πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ

@scottwilson peeps seem to whinge about this a lot, yet my  , my daily default browser for many many years, the alpha & thus notionally unstable fox, has never done this to me. never.

i read so many fedi & subreddit whines & whinges about such & such faults, bugs, misbehaviours et al perpetrated by this apparently miserably bad browser, all the while continuing to have a lovely online time here in my Nightly, & i just shrug & wonder how so many peeps can be so... unlucky πŸ€¨πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
