My wife Sarah firmly out on the picket line at the Christie Hospital in Manchester earlier today. 💪
She loves her work as a nurse so much, but she’s ruined after every 13+ hour shift being run ragged trying to care for more patients than is safe. With no breaks. Lucky if she gets to go to the toilet. It’s not on.
Oh and did anyone say, the pay is also pitiful. Small wonder they can’t recruit more nurses.
A thought for anyone in the position of management, at any level, in the public sector, where workers are #striking:
The fight is not the workforce against you. It’s against the government who have been screwing us all over, including making YOUR job impossible. As such you ARE taking a side depending on your response…
@grimethorpeband got to ask on behalf of my nurse-wife, might you be out for the nurse strikes on Wednesday and Thursday next week?
I know it’s the wrong side of the hill but we’d be blown away if you happened to turn up at the Christie in Manchester 😘🎺 #solidarity #nurseStrikes #RCNStrike

"Unfortunately, the government have missed yet another opportunity to put this right. We came here in good faith. What they want to talk about is productivity."
"Our members are working 18-hour shifts. How you become more productive with that I do not know."
Onay Kasab from Unite Union, following his meeting with health secretary Steve Barclay over NHS staff pay dispute.
My awesome wife is an #NHS nurse.
Tonight she was an hour late coming home at the end of her 13 hour shift, because there was nobody to hand over to.
She was looking after 8 patients today. That’s 7.5 minutes per patient per hour.
For £16.84 per hour.
This is normal - having got gradually worse over the past years. It’s breaking her spirit and ultimately putting patients at risk.
I will be with her on the picket line. 💪 #NHSStrikes #NurseStrikes #solidarity
Should we have a general strike?

I'm actually really proud of my dad, he has enough money that he doesn't need to work but he's decided to go & work for the ambulance service, I'm proud of him because he didn't have to do this, it's not an easy job, the pay is crap but he wants to help our emergency services!
