Now that we live in East Sussex, we have interesting T-shaped creatures that come and hang out on the kitchen window at night. I didn't know what they were, so I looked them up, and lo:

It turns out that the moths rabbit hole is deeper than I ever realised. Way deeper. Kudos, bless and all praise to https://ukmoths.org.uk/ - your one-stop shop for any and all UK moth needs. Which you may also not have realised you had.

Common Plume Emmelina monodactyla | UKmoths

Yesterday afternoon one of my cats was scratching on a log in our back yard, turns out he had cornered a butterfly!

He pulled it out to path where I took it from him for a photo, then let it out where it flew away. It looked a bit ragged but I don't know how much was from Helix or on purpose, but it seemed to fly OK.

Turns out it was a peacock butterfly (not a moth as pre-edit), very large and pretty! #NotAMoth #cat #butterfly #PeacockButterfly
