🇫🇷 Un joli paon de jour qui prenait le soleil près des berges de la Semois à Chiny. J'ai vu d'autres papillon mais c'était le seul qui s'arrêtait parfois... assez longtemps pour que je puisse le photographier. 😉

I went for a walk yesterday in Zeeland and saw LOTS of caterpillars on the road at a certain point. Luckily there was little to no car traffic there. Most were black with spikes, those will become peacock butterflies (Aglais io, 🇳🇱 dagpauwoog). But I also saw a HUGE green one of the hawk-moth (Agrius convolvuli, 🇳🇱 windepijlstaart). Apparently those are rare in NL.

Yesterday afternoon one of my cats was scratching on a log in our back yard, turns out he had cornered a butterfly!

He pulled it out to path where I took it from him for a photo, then let it out where it flew away. It looked a bit ragged but I don't know how much was from Helix or on purpose, but it seemed to fly OK.

Beim gestrigen Besuch des Botanischen Gartens konnte ich neben einem wunderschönen #tagpfauenauge auch noch eine #Hornissenschwebfliege am selben Schmetterlingsflieder ablichten. Das nenne ich mal Jagdglück!

During yesterday's visit to the Botanical Garden, I was able to photograph a beautiful #peacockbutterfly as well as a #hornethoverfly on the same butterfly bush. That's what I call hunting luck!
