Reflecting on
1. How rapidly things have deteriorated- when we started #ClimateDiary 3 years ago, we did not yet have constant extreme weather (in Global North at least).

2. How quickly, awfully, we get used to this. Weather events as main news items: completely normal now. So much #normalisation, of course, in HOW it’s all reported.

The reason #Israel is still killing people in #Gaza on a daily basis is because it wants people to know that they are NOT safe, that there is NO RETURN to a regular life. It is to make their lives unbearable and slowly cleanse them from the lands.

This is a #genocide in slow motion and the 'international community', that is, states all over the world, are turning a blind eye.

There should be no 'return to normality', no normalisation of a state which commits a genocide; not for imperial- and Nazi-Germany, not for the settler-colonial United States and Canada, not for colonial Netherlands, nor for Ethiopia and the genocide in Tigray, Myanmar on the Rohinga, or any other genocide-committing country. So neither for Israel.

'#Normalisation' of Israel at this stage would mean the acceptance of aggressive international warfare, the occupation and theft of land and the continued killing of people who refuse to submit.
