The suet colour mystery.

I brought extra suet peanut pellets for my feeder at home as the unusual early and intense cold snap has caused problems for local birds. So I took some with me to see what the crows think about them. They were suspicious at first, but Yen tried them and seemed to like them (not as much as nuts of course). Now the funny thing is - she only picked up, investigated, and ate all the cream coloured ones, but didn't touch any of the reddish/rose coloured ones. Reginald later did the same. They accept both now, a day later. I would have assumed the rose coloured ones are more attractive because it's closer to read fruit, meat, i.e. The only difference seems to be that the reddish ones are coloured with fruit extract for the looks, but they're not explicitly different otherwise. Why is cream colour less suspicious than reddish colour?

Theories?

Have you ever seen a kookaburra swim? I hadn't, before this morning!
Made this little journal spread to capture the moment.
I guess they are kingfishers, after all ☺️

This morning with Sydney Sketch Club, an indoor, inner city "nature journalling" session. (This involved gathering upstairs in a pub and playing musical chairs with artefacts that we'd all brought in.) This spread is a mix of ink, graphite and watercolour sketches.
