Sad news from the wildlife hospital. The tūī has died. The autopsy confirms that its injuries were caused by a cat. The people who found the tūī in their garden don’t have a cat, so a cat of their neighbours likely did it.
That reminds me of when we rescued a korimako/bellbird from one of our neighbour’s cats, in our garden. We took that bird to the wildlife hospital and it made it.
NZ won’t be predator free until we figure out how to be responsible cat owners.
