Had occasion to look at some 17-ish yr-old pictures from a trip to #GlacierNationalPark. Can remember it fairly well (although it's getting foggy), and wish I had been able to stay longer.
Today's realization, though, is how irrelevant nearly all our pictures are to anyone but ourselves. Neither my kids or my wife can extract any real meaning from looking at these old pictures. They need memory in order to be activated.
That's the mark of an amazing #photographer, I think: the ability to convey true meaning and emotion in a picture that the viewer did not experience.
