UPDATE!
The fire in the camp totally destroyed 4 isoboxes and damaged 3 others.
Thankfully no one was physically hurt.
Although the fire brigade responded quickly as always the fire spread at an alarming rate.
Everyone in the blue zone was evacuated from their homes at around 3am and allowed to return after 5am this morning, once the fire fighters deemed it safe.
A very stressful night for so many already vulnerable people.
The cause of the fire will be investigated.
The people who have lost everything will visit the hope project in the coming days, we will do our best to replace what was lost.
Fire is a constant fear in this camp.
We are extremely worried about the new camp that will open next year in the restricted fire zone of the island. Literally in the middle of the islands biggest forest, a fire there would be deverstating for the island.
The government has waved all environmental and fire regulations to build a concentration camp in the most vulnerable place on Lesvos.
