The more important question becomes: why are we experiencing such a boom and such a rush around the inputs for the green transition? Evidently the main driver of demand for, say, lithium, is electric vehicles. But that raises the further question: is there a way to organize the decarbonization of transport without reproducing auto dependency? The real challenge we face is to avoid reproducing our current, entrenched habits via green technology."
