The actor had disagreements with some of the series’ producers, including executive producer Jez Butterworth, as well as with representatives of 101 Studios of David Glasser and the production company. Contributing to the even more nebulous situation is the fact that the streaming platform has not yet officially announced the renewal of the series for a third season, leaving many questions about the future of the project open.

“He refused to leave his camper for hours,” the source said regarding Hardy’s behavior on set during the second season, which prompted the producers to reconsider the actor’s future. And that’s not all, according to Puck News, Hardy attempted to modify the dialogue and provide notes on the script to Butterworth and the creator Ronan Bennett. Il y a deux ans, Paramount sortait cette série télévisée. Ce n’est que cet été que j’ai découvert « 1923 » en cherchant une série sur Netflix à regarder les jours de pluie ou pendant les périodes de grande chaleur qui m’affectent particulièrement. Je ne suis pas adepte de western, mais le seul fait de retrouver Helen Mirren et Harrison Ford en têtes d’affiche était suffisant pour satisfaire ma curiosité. Ce ne sont pas qu’eux qui font de cette série quelque chose d’exceptionnel. J’ai découvert le jeu tout en nuances de Brandon Sklenar tout comme celui de plusieurs autres protagonistes dans cette histoire. Croyez-moi, je ne le regrette nullement.

Cette épopée qui se déroule à la fois aux États-Unis, en Afrique et en Europe me tient en haleine depuis le début, tellement que j’ai dévoré les scènes une après l’autre, sans décrocher, désirant en savoir plus lorsqu’un épisode se terminait en anticipant ce que le suivant me réservait.

Aventure, romance, mais aussi dureté des êtres humains pour conquérir des terres, survivre, exploiter et manipuler les autres. Les scènes dans les pensionnats pour autochtones sont très difficiles à regarder et nous montre à quel point les hommes en robe noire se servaient du divin pour martyriser les enfants des Premières Nations pour tuer « l’indien en eux ». Pas surprenant qu’ils aient cherché à se venger de la cruauté de leurs mercenaires. Si c’est au retour de cette supposée grandeur de l’Amérique que convie le président actuel des États-Unis pour son pays, il y a de quoi être dégoûté.

À ma grande déception, Netflix nous offre que la première saison sur sa plateforme. Lorsque je l’ai terminé, j’ai cherché où je pouvais regarder la suite. Paramount la présente uniquement en anglais. J’ai alors découvert qu’Illico en présentait l’intégrale en français. Je me suis donc abonné pour poursuivre le visionnement de cette extraordinaire série.
