I made this photograph of an #alignment of #Megalithic monuments, a stone circle, a passage tomb, and the grave of Queen #Maeve atop #Knocknarea seen from #Carrowmore, #Sligo, IE, on April 25, 2007 using old technology, a Canon PowerShot A710 IS. Today, I used #gimp 3 to convert it to black and white using different settings than last time I posted it.

Today it is exactly 5 years since I climbed Knocknarea in County Sligo, home to Queen Maeve's Cairn, or Miosgán Meadhbha.
It was one of those red letter days - driving up the Wild Atlantic way, often partly enveloped in fog. Someone recommended I visit Knocknarea. And the day was special - damp and solitary. I had just been divorced, and struggled with a lot of things, finding myself free after many, many years of abuse. I trace the moment I changed to that climb - I went up the mountain one person, and came down another.
It is a special place.
