the main difference ive noticed between fabric and forge/neoforge modders is that fabric modders are version chasers and only really care about the newest release of the game, while f/nf are more than willing to keep making things for 1.20. #mcmodding #minecraftmodding

Holy crap... the animation library I helped make just became the #1 most popular #minecraft mod. Although it's a dependency of other mods, not really a user-facing mod itself so a lot of people might not recognize it. Also I'm not sure exactly how they are calculating popularity here, by total lifetime downloads we are #8. But hey, my elementary school teacher said i'd never accomplish anything 😂

Hey, quick (I hope?) question for the Fabric modders (tho I guess it might be similar in other loaders):
I've seen some mods reading loose files on folders on the game instance (for example XaerosWorldMap, FancyMenu, JourneyMap, etc.). How do you do that? All information I've seen around is for reading files inside the jar itself or a resource pack.

Minecraft's Java code has been obfuscated for over 15 years (with official obfuscation mappings released a couple years ago), now MS/Mojang is removing the last trace of obfuscation and releasing future Java versions without any official names stripped from the "binary" files: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/removing-obfuscation-in-java-edition

That's a pretty big step (especially for modding) but still not the Free Software license Notch promised a looong while ago 👀
