Minecraft's Java code has been obfuscated for over 15 years (with official obfuscation mappings released a couple years ago), now MS/Mojang is removing the last trace of obfuscation and releasing future Java versions without any official names stripped from the "binary" files: https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/article/removing-obfuscation-in-java-edition

That's a pretty big step (especially for modding) but still not the Free Software license Notch promised a looong while ago 👀
