Yvet YoussefI've got 7 years of online journaling on an IG account to process and archive. There's my entire American decade to download from Facebook. Fold it into a digital folder and store it on some hard drive somewhere in some flimsy box where it can accumulate pixeldust. Maybe we'll have devices to open our memories in the future. Maybe not.
I made a playlist with some tunes I used to listen to in the zeroes on another ethically questionable streaming platform we may have to abandon soon... I named it: "Pixelfed is full-blown zeroes nostalgia.” I listen to it attentively in the cool sunlight and feel suspended in my own life, hovering, neither here nor there. Or simultaneously somewhere. I don't always know how to hold linear time.
In 2008 I wrote an essay in a U.S. American college explicating Gronlandic Edit by of Montreal. I was very concerned with having a good taste in music. Considering the myriad ways in which music has saved my ass; a pretty keen investment. I was 22, I think. Though it's hard for me to imagine ever having been 22. Maybe that’s because I never felt entirely at home in my own life at the time. Chronically hovering. The anchoring-feature wasn't unlocked in my experience until years later.

And forget, forget, forget, forget, forget,
All of the beauty's wasted"
Maybe it's the PMS, or all the pretty pictures in a digital dungeon, but. Oof. Some seventeen odd years later, still. Same.

Human friends are trickling in, understanding the gravity of this moment in history. The weight of it. Or maybe simply nudged by a soft subconscious whisper that says: "something new, please, someplace else."
I've been watching the most ridiculously uncurated and wild conversations on Substack. I've been trying to open a Pixelfed profile of a friend for days to no avail. Stuck in a glitch-loop.
And I don't feel irked or impatient. I feel relieved.
Oh, how fucking wonderful to be presented with IMPERFECTION. How gloriously sweet to witness the stumbling trial and error phase of a thing. How joyful to feel: YES! I AM ALSO THIS MESS! What a much needed rattling of the deep-conditioned meta-mindset.
Sweet ones, do show us your wyrd, wild, and wonderful selves. Imperfect and unchoreographed and uncensored. It's such a breath of fresh air.
