Olen saanut apurahan Fuugin säätiöltä!

Tulen kääntämään matematiikan kaavoja lukevan ja pistekirjoitukseksi muuttavan ohjelmiston. Olen kyllä aiemminkin työskennellyt projektissa, mutta nyt työt eivät ole antaneet samalla tavalla myöten, joten ajattelin edistää tätä vapaa-ajalla - ja apurahan turvin.

Kiitokset @pesasa! Kuulin tästä säätiöstä, kun kerroit saaneesi oman apurahan Inkscape-kurssin tekemiseen.

Hieno juttu, että säätiön rahoja voi käyttää saavutettavuuden ja yhteisen hyvän kehittämiseen.

Allein #SVG und #MathML sind relevante Browser-basierte #XML-Technologien. #RSS / #Atom existieren ebenfalls.

#XSLT lebt auf dem Server weiter und hat in Version 3.0 (bald 4.0) primär für lokal angesiedelte Prozesse der Dokumentverarbeitung (#DITA, #DocBook, #TEI) eine ungebrochene Bedeutung. Zudem steht mit #SaxonJS eine Browser-Alternative zur Verfügung.

Pensionierte XMLer werden bestimmt ebenso gefragt sein wie im Fall von #COBOL.

The <mtd> MathML element represents a cell in a table or a matrix. It may only appear in a <mtr> element. This element is similar to the <td> element of HTML.

The support for #MathML in browser is often poor. The fact that instead of improving it the developers seem to be instead pressuring the standard bodies to impoverish the language only makes this worse.

(I am aware of #MathJax. We shouldn't need a heavy-duty #JavaScript library to solve typesetting problems. That's exactly what browser engines are there fore.)

I weep for the status of scientific publishing in the modern world.

(This rant is offered by my experience looking for options to make the SPHERIC newsletter available both in PDF and in HTML form. I don't even need complex math usually,, we try to avoid it in contributions because it's hard to typeset math outside of the TeX world. But the fact that in 2026 online the only safe way seems to be to typeset everything manually or rely on huge JavaScript libraries is a little depressing.)

Lyhyesti: Paras tuki matematiikan kaavoille on selaimissa. Sen jälkeen e-kirjoissa (EPUB). PDF:ssä tuki on parantunut, mutta formaatin muut ongelmat haittaavat saavutettavuutta.
