Sure, the #lightningBugs have been out for a few weeks. While they are fabulous, there are nothing like the #fireFlies used to be in the 1970's. I remember this oak tree in the early 2000's at my parents house that would get completely surrounded, I mean it was glowing! Hopefully the surviving bugs will do it again.
@CindySue Fireflies going crazy in our front and even the back yard the last couple days. Looks like the right conditions this summer. #wisconsin #LightningBugs #fireflies #entomology https://www.wpr.org/news/wisconsin-summer-fireflies-lightning-bugs
Have you seen more fireflies this year?

People in southern Wisconsin could be seeing more fireflies this summer as lifting drought conditions improve habitat for the insects, according to a UW-Madison entomology professor.

Good entymological news: there's a lot more lightning bugs in my yard than I've ever seen here.

Noticing more fireflies this summer? This could be why

Nationally and globally, firefly populations are decreasing in size. Here in Indiana, we're seeing so many this particular year. The answer is weather-based.

Fireflies in the yard tonight. We leave the leaves, build brush piles, grow native plants, let tall grass grow in some areas and have no outdoor lights.

Where the plants grow tall and the night is dark, we can have lightning bugs like we used to.
