Back on Otis Watch!

Watching the livestream of bears at #Katmai National Park again. The salmon are jumping, and the #bears are there!

I'm seeing some mating activity today, too.

The oldest bear 480 Otis has not yet returned to the river, but he has been late before. He could be around, but not in view of the cameras.

I've been happy to see several coys (cub of year, or first-year cub). Several familiar older bears are back, including Grazer, 747, and Chunk.

The bears will soon go into hibernation so I wanted to post this beautiful picture of Bear 480 Otis. It is my fervent hope and desire that we will see the King of Katmai, Lord of the Falls next year! Photo snapped on live cam.

No, dear, sweet Otis did not win his bracket in the Fat Bear contest, but that's ok as he will ALWAYS be the King of Katmai and Lord of the Falls and the most beloved bear EVER. Here's another pic of the magnificent transformation he made in just a little over two months!! 💗 💗 Long Live the King!

I love 480 Otis.

He's a wonderful bear to watch in his "Office" falling asleep between high-gradings. I still adore him, of course.

But this year, from the way 901 chonked up even with a litter of spring cubs is impressive enough to earn my vote this year.

It's Fat Bear Week at Katmai! The first pic is of Otis when he finally showed up at Brooks at the end of July. The second picture is of Otis yesterday.
