Just want to say that as a livelong edges of Jorune fan I am loving this podcast. (the first ep is here, the later ones require patreon membership but I'm finding it worth it).
The goal of the podcast in the long term is taking new players and running them through old, very distinct games, and they have just the right sense of curiosity and fun.
Detailed and very negative review of #hunterplanet in #casusbelli circa 1988. The guy was a fan of Jorune, you may understand why he did not like Hunter Planet

Fifth week of my Lore24 is up, and since last week laid out the types of adventure available in each map direction, this week lays out what Cryptic Alliances would act as your patrons if you explored them.
I'm borrowing heavily here from Jorune's "tauther test" campaign structure, whereby PCs get citizenship via accumulating patronage marks, earned by completing tasks for existing citizens. It's deeply simplified here, but I love that idea.

23. COOLEST looking RPG product/book.
Skyrealms of Jorune. Cool covers & art, great layout in 2E & 3E. 1E is a typewriter-layout Metamorphosis Alpha hack. 4E was a failure. Those Dragon magazine ads in 1984 could not have been better placed to tempt you to buy.
Awesome SF/F setting, system's fine, it's crunchy by modern standards but not for the time. Really interesting duelling combat, Isho (magic/mutations) is a lot more limited.

Skyrealms of Jorune is an RPG from the '80s and '90s (the first edition came out in 1984, and the third in 1992) that was heavily advertised in magazines at the time and which was notable for its high quality art and its sometimes incomprehensibe ad copy. The game was written by Andrew Leker...
