If you operate an Internet Exchange Point (IXP) or are interested in creating one, the Internet Society has a “Sustainable Peering Infrastructure” funding program that is open for applications until this Friday, September 6, 2024... Grant funds from USD $5,000 up to $50,000 are open to all regions and are available to assist in equipment purchases (switches, optic modules, servers, and routers), training, capacity building, and community development.

A major factor in closing the digital divide is creating more reliable Internet access that is affordable. Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) and local traffic are critical to help with this.
Over the past 10 years in the DRC, we can see the dramatic impact that IXPs had on access⬇️
Last year, we partnered with ICANN and joined the Coalition for Digital Africa to help empower #IXPs in Africa. We're excited to share the progress made in Benin, Malawi, and Rwanda, improving access and making it more affordable.
