Border images in CSS: A key focus area for Interop 2023 | MDN Blog

Aligning with Interop 2023's emphasis on cross-browser consistency, this post walks you through various `border-image` properties that you can control to create captivating web designs. Learn how to use custom graphics for enhancing the look of your websites that appear consistent across different browsers.

Likely to fly under the radar (like image-set did) but Chrome 120 (releasing today) finally supports un-prefixed CSS mask-image properties. Thank you #interop2023

@hi_mayank @jensimmons I think the “investigation“ one is already underused: in #Interop2023 there were just two areas: https://wpt.fyi/interop-2023
And there are only two proposals for them in the current list of issues: https://github.com/web-platform-tests/interop/issues?q=is%3Aissue+is%3Aopen+label%3Ainvestigation-effort-proposal (compared to how many proposals for the focus?)

So I'm not sure more categories is needed, unless we'd want to split something from the “focus areas” into different tiers.

@sarajw Unfortunately it’s not part of #Interop2023. Maybe next year?
#WebDev folks, is there a reason there is still not a standardized way to outline text with CSS? A decade ago, we had non-standard options like `-webkit-text-stroke` and the “spread” value for `text-shadow` (bringing it in line with `box-shadow`), and then...nothing happened? This seems so much more minor than a lot of the things on the #Interop2023/potential #Interop2024 list, but I kind of hope it makes the cut next year 😅

Soon, all browser engines will have support for color-mix() 🎉

Learn about it here: https://developer.chrome.com/blog/css-color-mix/

Intent to ship: color-mix()

@property is supported in Chromium – ever since version 78 (2019!) – and Safari 16.4 beta.

It’s part of #Interop2023, so you can expect this to land later this year in Firefox as well.

Talk 2 also done. This one was about all new things that have recently landed (or soon will land) in CSS.

Confirmed to ship in Firefox 113 (to hit stable on 2023-05-09) as well! 🎉🥳

After many years of waiting, this will soon be cross-browser. Long live #interop2023!
