@leaverou At one point you asked what the fastest spec change to implementation was. I feel like single color stop gradients might be a competitor. Now in experimental Safari and FF. On it's way in chromium as well. So potentially 6 months? https://issues.chromium.org/issues/344620213

5 years after initial implementation in chrome and still wishing I could use the CSS Paint API without having to dodge bugs with the API itself and bugs with the polyfill for it...
Likely to fly under the radar (like image-set did) but Chrome 120 (releasing today) finally supports un-prefixed CSS mask-image properties. Thank you #interop2023
