Congressman Hoyer has been a great representative of MD-5 for many years. I thank him for his fine service.
But I have been advocating for the last several years that he step aside. I don't believe our founding fathers intended we have career legislators. The regular turn-over of representatives in Congress is in everyone's best interest.
Plus anyone like Mr. Hoyer, who has been in the Congress for 40+ years is way too invested in the status quo to be the energetic advocate of change that we desperately need today.
I don't know who may replace him, but I do have my eye on Wala Blegay. 😉

Hoyer will not seek reelection this fall, ending a six-decade career atop Maryland politics - Maryland Matters
Rep. Steny Hoyer will announce Thursday that he will not seek reelection, capping a 60-year career in state and federal politics that saw him become a legendary figure in Maryland politics and the second-ranking Democrat in the U.S. House.
