Wife, MIL, and I headed to Goofy Foot Taproom in High Point, NC. Owner was super friendly. Dedicated tap lines for styles, including stouts and porters. Guest beers all brewed in NC. Can cooler for both drink-in and to-go. Can't wait to visit again.

August 20, 2013: it was another quiet night alone at the shelter. Nice. I missed the turn to the high point, and decided not to back-track to get it. I'm sure I'll be back sometime.
The ridges were nice, plenty of easy hiking. It must be a weekend, since I saw a lot of day hikers. One of them even gave me some food.
This shelter is fine, but there is a partially built new one across the trail. The thru hikers next year will get to enjoy it
