Plush Hallucigenia, with many arms for many cuddles! The long 'neck', if you can call it a neck, and small head, is reminiscent of a sauropod dinosaur.

We'll review the Plushtodon Mastodon mascot one of these days... it technically counts as a prehistoric animal toy!

Hallucigenia (Plush by ZHONGXIN MADE)

The Cambrian was the very first period of the Paleozoic Era, beginning a little over 538 million years ago and lasting until the start of the Ordovician period 486 million years ago. And during those nearly 52 million years, all manner of weird and wonderful life evolved in the seas. Scores of trilobites, Microdictyon, and Wiwaxia crept along the sandy beds. Swimming above them were […]

You know what? Sod this #JurassicPark rubbish.

I want a #Cambrian Park, please. Bring back the #BurgessShale #hallucigenia !

@vbuendiar I am not academically trained, but I love hashtags and the more specific, the better. By field, and focus are great.

I like being hooked in by general hashtags like #science but then it's great when I can find people who are into #Cambrian #Fossils from the #BurgessShale and have theories on what #Hallucigenia would get up to. This is both fascinating and makes a great jumping off/in place and reveals other like minded folk to follow.

My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

In 2013 I built 23 scale and life-size models for MUSE Science Museum, in Trento, Italy. Here's Hallucigenia, from the Middle Cambrian.

June: Anomalocaris, Dragon of the Cambrian. The realisation that most Cambrian creatures were tiny gave me the idea of a whole bunch of them hiding from a 40 cm long Anomalocaris while in positions reminiscent of a D&D party facing off against a dragon.

With a little adjustment.

Cousin to the Space Herpe

It changes your personal time line

Maybe something good

Maybe something bad

You will never know

Until it finishes trawling your world line

@AdamStuartSmith @dinotoyblog @pfefferle is there an anomalocaris, too?
@b_age Yep, there is! https://amzn.to/4b3SQUx (disclaimer: Amazon affiliate link). The brand name seems different on different websites but the product is the same.

@pfefferle @dinotoyblog Aha, I recently turned on some anti-bot settings in Cloudflare because I've been having content scraped and stolen. See image. That's probably it?

But curiously, the most recent DinoToyBlog post (an hour ago) *did* federate to Mastodon, including an image (https://sauropods.win/@dinotoyblog@dinotoyblog.com/114013219987885906), despite the Cloudflare settings still being active.

Thanks for the reply and assistance! 🙏

Sauropods.win

@pfefferle @dinotoyblog I also have Cloudflare's Hotlink Protection enabled, but I've had that on for years without any apparent problem (on Mastodon anyway).

@pfefferle @dinotoyblog

Update:

That one post that wasn't federating on Mastodon appeared when I turned off bot security, so good call!

I turned off Cloudflare's Hotlink Protection and the federated images appeared on Pixelfed, but only up to 52 weeks ago (a year exactly). More recent posts do not appear, why would that be?

Unless there's a workaround, I guess this all means I need to decide what's more important to me, security or smooth federation.

@pfefferle Even with all those Cloudflare settings turned off, new posts are not federating to Pixelfed, while they are federating to Mastodon. Any idea what could be the difference?
@AdamStuartSmith do you have an example link?

Thanks, yeah. So odd then that the feed on Pixelfed seems to have died 52 weeks ago. See screenshot.

@pfefferle

I don't know if it's related but sometimes some auto-inserted content appears in the federated posts on Mastodon (see content in red box in screenshot), and sometimes it doesn't. In fact usually it doesn't, and I notice it doesn't in the post at your link, so I presume that's the norm. This content is inserted using an Ad Inserter plugin after every excerpt. I can raise this on the WP plugin support page it it's easier.
