Build day! But today it wasn't a Gundam. It was a Figure-rise of Fumina Hoshino from Gundam Build Fighters Try. I chose to do the variant with the hoodie. It was a really fun kit to build, especially with her little Petit Petit'gguy.

Fumina is pictured here in the "leave it to me!" pose I have planned for her if I can find room on one of my shelves to display her. Also here is a bonus pose requested by @Plamobot of a "Fumina Kick!".

Gundam Build Fighters Try: Island Wars is everything you want in a bonus episode. It’s a fun side story not related to the main series, and it also provides dual-mode fanservice. It’s the obligatory beach episode, but also Gundam fanservice in the form of an extended length massive Gunpla battle which would have been right at home in a mainline Gundam series.

I’m also quite pleased that my hunch about the mysterious new character in the episode was correct.

Finished watching Gundam Build Fighters Try, and what a fun series that was. I might even like it more than the first series, which is saying something because that had Aila and Try did not!

Even though GBF Try is a sequel, the callbacks are kept to a minimum, and wisely, the story is not a retread of the original Gundam Build Fighters. Try has significantly less angst (though it does have those awful people as opponents in the second half), and no grand conspiracy, which might be why Try may have a bit of an edge on the first series for me. The finale is also completely different in tone, with Try ending on a much more joyous note.

So overall, I enjoy both Gundam Build Fighters series quite a bit, and next I will watch the bonus episodes of Try: Island Wars and GM’s Counterattack from the first series, along with the Battlogue mini episodes. After that, I’ll be taking a break from Gundam to watch some other things from my anime shelf. As for my next Gundam plans? I haven’t decided what I’ll be watching next or when… but with as many Gundam series that I still haven’t seen yet, I have plenty of options!

The second half of Gundam Build Fighters Try is full of opponents with horrible motivations for doing Gunpla Battle. I feel like I’m watching Kamen Rider Ryuki again. 😅

It was so satisfying watching team Try Fighters take down Huey, Dewey, and Louie. I couldn’t stand those guys.

On an unrelated note, I like how the Gunpla Battle system voice went from being an emotionless robot in the first Gundam Build Fighters series to an enthusiastic observer in Try.

I just watched a Petit Beargguy mop the floor with a Turn A. I like the variety of Gundam models in this series. So much more variation than the original series!

On an unrelated note, I like how you can tell that Yuuma is China’s little brother. They have the same eyes and face.

It's time once again to raid my anime shelf for a couple of shows to watch.

First up is Gundam Build Fighters Try. I missed this series during its original airing, but now finally all these years later I’m going to watch it. Of course, I just finished my rewatch of the original Gundam Build Fighters to refresh my memory about the world the series takes place in, so now I’m fully prepared for the next installment!

And next up, because I’m feeling nostalgic, I’m going to watch Cowboy Bebop again. I think I’ve seen it no fewer than four times over the past two decades, but it’s just as good every single time. But now, for the first time, I’ll be watching it on blu-ray, so it will look and sound better than ever. I can already hear “Tank!” playing in my mind.
