Linux Weekly News: "The Internet is a wonderful thing; it allows anybody to look up information of interest. Included in all of that is the history of the free-software development community; how we got to where we are says a lot about why things are the way they are and what might come next. So the takeover of #Groklaw rings a loud alarm; we have been reminded that history stored on the Internet is an ephemeral thing and cannot be expected to remain available forever."

Interview with Fuat Kircaali, CEO of Sys-Con

Yesterday I got to explain the SCO vs IBM lawsuit to an employee and introduce them to #groklaw. I can't believe it's been 10 years since pj shut it down.
That was probably the last principled thing that happened on the Internet.
I listen to #MuellerSheWrote podcasts fairly frequently. I feel like they are #GrokLaw for the 2020s.
The Secret Room: EFF Designer's Cartoon on Illegal Spying

I was asked recently to create a mural-sized political cartoon (and to paint it live!) at a show of experimental drawings and cartoons at the Mission Cultural Center in San Francisco. I chose as my subject the NSA's "secret room" at AT...

A pioneering site in tech blogging.

Final post (paraphrased via wikipedia):

"I can't do Groklaw without your input.... and there is now no private way, evidently, to collaborate." and "What I do know is it's not possible to be fully human if you are being surveilled 24/7... I hope that makes it clear why I can't continue. There is now no shield from forced exposure."

Groklaw - Digging for Truth

The following is the original text of the post. #Friendica posts seem to get elided in #Mastodon when the title is used:

10 years ago yesterday, Pamela Jones ("PJ") posted her last entry on #Groklaw:

(the website hasn't been updated in 10 years either, so it seems not to have a 'https' address)

#PJ's contribution to the development of the internet and how it should work is immeasurable, and she is sorely missed.

I hope she is well.
