Doing my part for #globalbigday #birds #birding

Nice morning walk through the ranch on the edge of town.

I think there were way more olive-sided flycatchers than just 5 but eBird gave me shit about it and I didn’t feel like justifying my ears to someone who wasn’t there.

Global Big Day—9 May 2026 - eBird

Will this be the year the global birding community finds 8,000 species in a single day? No matter where you are, go outside on Global Big Day—Saturday, 9 May and share the birds you find with eBird.

#GlobalBigDay today in Nicaragua, counting and bird lists are still being made but this handsome yellow-naped Amazon is just too pretty not to shade.

In the actual #GlobalBigDay yesterday I was not much lucky, but today have seen this beauty in #Genova .
Unlike the ubiquitous Kramer parrots here, these ones are more rare and harder to find because of their far more modest behaviour.

#BirdWatching #Birding

Oh my GLOB, Cornell Ornithology’s Birds of the World (their site with huge fully cited detailed entries on different bird species) is free today to celebrate #GlobalBigDay! I finally get to see a helpful précis of everything science knows about the Lewis’s Woodpecker, for instance! Maybe the details about bald eagle courtship I need are in here?! This is…definitely helping me get out of my house and count birds! 😅
