The story I needed this morning —
“Now thriving after more than a month of around-the-clock care, the cub is expected to remain at the center for up to a year. Staff are using enrichment sessions that mimic maternal behavior to prepare him for a future return to the wild, including staff members dressed as bears, plush toys and camouflaged headsets."

Royal rejection, courtesy of #Trump
Belgium’s Royal Palace says Princess Elisabeth is waiting to find out whether she can return to Harvard for her second year after the Trump administration revoked the university's ability to enroll international students.-- AP
Columbia University’s board was always on the same wavelength as the Trump administration.
On several of the task force’s demands
— including banning masks, restricting protests, stripping disciplinary powers from the senate, and allowing campus police to arrest demonstrators
— the group was ready to concede immediately.
On March 21, it sent a letter to the government essentially surrendering.
Perhaps reflecting an understanding that the letter would not go over well with the Columbia community, nobody signed it…
Another excellent story from @ProPublica on the impact of #Helene on the mountains of #NC, this time focusing on rural #Yancy county.
So grateful for their continued coverage of the devastation in this region, and the need for better and more preparedness, and not the cuts in funding we are seeing now.

New research has linked sea level rise and an increase in flooding in the U.S. Northeast over the past 20 years to the breakdown of the Atlantic Meridional Overturning Circulation (AMOC).
