@pinhman I'm not sure if it's all inherited, but I do know when I lived there in the 80s there were a lot more small #farms than there are now. These may be owned by families, who came to control more and more, buying out the neighbourhood, and now being a kind of landed #gentry. Many have become #agribusinesses, no matter the #family tree.

How do we rate disappropriation from traditional lands?
When it happens to traditional owners people are correctly appalled.
When it happens to farmers, people are correctly appalled.

If it happens to working class, or especially middle class people in city centres it's just "gentrification".

The clue is in the word. Modern gentry creating clearances.

If it wasn't right in Scotland, it's not in cities now.
