Current plans by Westminster government to deregulate new #GeneEdited crops and food will mean that Scottish government will be powerless to prevent their cultivation and sale here, courtesy of the #postBrexit #UK single market Act …a device largely designed to emasculate our devolved powers on a wide front.

@timsmalley @ClaireCopperman @MadeyeTheCarnaptious they can use the Internal Market Bill to block any proposed devolved divergence from UK where it has the least connection with trade or the so called 🇬🇧 ‘single market’ …and they will. The issue of #GMO & #GeneEdited crops and food is a good case in point.

Such a glaring irony when you look at how the #NIprotocol leaves #NI free to diverge to keep alignment with #EU. …except it’s more than irony, it’s an outrage.
