@Twenty years ago tomorrow 23 #Chinese migrant #workers were killed by drowning in #MorecambeBay while picking cockles for a #gangmaster.
Their deaths prompted a change in the law.
Today there is a ceremony on West End Beach in memory of these lost workers.
As so often the #migrants were able to be exploited because they feared the police & the state - a fear the gangemasters used to enslave them.
