Because of AI slop and confusion caused by (often well-meaning) Americans on international online spaces, I was unsure if the engine on my #GolfGTI had just direct or multi point #fuelinjection

Managed to snag an official VW workshop manual and checked with my own eyes, was pleased to see the CHHA engine in my car does indeed have the extra fuel rail and injectors in the intake manifold (this is good, as #petrol sprays over the back of the intake valves and keeps then cleaner, without it they are prone to coke up and require walnut blasting)

I do not know why Americans only get engines with direct injection (into the combustion chamber), whether this is simply cost cutting by #Volkswagen of #America or some other reason..

What makes this even more mind blowing is that Formula 1 engines rev past 15,000 rpm on the regular (not sure how far, I seem to recall something like 18,000). Just watching the fuel injectors, that means the metal pistons are going up and down equally fast! Mind blown.

Well... there's still no ground at the #19 wire, just 11.4v positive. Why would a working ECU that's supposed to put out 12v ground on the fuel pump relay #85 be putting out positive. It should never put out positive. Is there a short in one of the other 30 or so wires!?

I don't know what to do next...

I could try another ebay #ECU, pour another $100 down the drain, and pray that it's not fried too.

I could try to replace the original ECU and wiring with a modern #MegaSquirt ECU.

I could tear all the fucking #fuelinjection shit out, find some #carburetors, linkage, manifolds, and low pressure fuel pump.

I could buy a $20k electric conversion kit.

I could set it on fire and roll it into the Columbia river.

I am so fucking sick of this. I've had this car for over a year stinking up my garage and I haven't even gotten the fuel pump to come on.

I bought a spare ECU, I sourced a replacement transistor, I soldered it on an ancient PCB, I've traced wires all the way from one end of the car to the next.

Fuel Injection was a mistake. I see why everyone converts these fuckers to carbs.
