#Docker alike container management on #FreeBSD? Let's have a look at #Kleene - which works very similar to Docker and makes the shift for Linux users even easier to #Jails without having deeper knowledge but by benefiting of all the features on Jails.

HowTo: Kleene as a Container Management Platform for FreeBSD • gyptazy - The DevOps Geek

Kleene is a container management (jail manager) platform designed specifically for FreeBSD, bringing familiar concepts from Docker while fully embracing FreeBSDs native tools and philosophy. Instead of reinventing the wheel, Kleene follows the KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) principle, leveraging FreeBSD's built-in features to simplify application deployment, maintenance, and upgrades without unnecessary complexity or abstraction.

Spent the day playing with #FreeNAS #TrueNAS & discovered a compatibility point for #Jellyfin. In particular the instruction on using Jails does work, HOWEVER you must use the TrueNAS 13.3 Beta2 or newer version.
The issue is that the jail will get created with #FreeBSD 13.3 RELEASE. The Release version of TrueNAS is FreeBSD 13.1 & fails to start Jellyfin properly. Upon upgrading to this beta things magically worked... 😐🤷🏾‍♂️

I spent a lot of time upgraded a batch of #freebsd and #freebsdjail systems to version 14 over the past few months. I wrote a little guide that might or might not help someone in the future.

Freebsd Version 14 Upgrade Process

I just went through quite a few FreeBSD 14 upgrades over the past month and just thought I'd note down the process. I also run quite a few jails on my FreeBSD hosts and also noted down what has been working for me. Seems like this information is very rarely documented across the internet so hopefully this helps someone out there! The second #FreeBSDJail breakfast^wlunch call also went three hours with an hour of additional discussion. I hope to have the recording up later today.

#FreeBSDJail and #bhyve users!

I have sent out this week's invitations!

Please let me know if you want to be added to (or removed from) the invitation list.

I am also exploring the possibility of a #bhyvecon Tokyo for an in-person discussion of theses topics!

Pre-Toot! @antranigv is preparing a landing page to find the minutes on but...

WOW the #FreeBSDJail call was right to the point with subject matter experts from around the world, went three hours long and produces seven pages of minutes/notes.

Watch for the minutes/notes soon! There were LOTS of useful commands that are clearly under-documented.
