Despite my foss journey being very young - I only started digging and liberating myself this april -, I've gotten very far and never wanna turn back anymore. All started with my turn from Youtube and the like to RSS. It still boggles my mind on how much foss software I've already relied on without knowing: VLC Mediaplayer, Firefox, LibreOffice, Gimp, Signal, Seal, Drip, …
And now, that Google aims to heighten the barrier of entry into the foss world by soon prohibiting non-gplay installations, the small world I built for myself (on my phone, ignoring my now Linux PC) seems to fade as quickly as it grew. I am certain, that if given no other choice, I will turn to another operating system like LineageOS. But for me, a big part of the fun of this foss movement, was spreading the message around to my not so tech-savvy friends. With a higher barrier of entry, they are less likely to follow - and I fear I will drift apart. I'm already alienated by people casually using big-tech spyware in their day-to-day and feel urged to comment on it.
I know I can't save everyone… But the foss movement is an increasingly important part of antifascism. How can I spread the antifascist message of foss to like-minded people who are afraid of using a terminal? How will I go about it, once (if) this foss world is shut out even more on android? (for Linux, I at least have the https://endof10.org campaign)
