I had not heard a thing about John C. Reilly's "Mr. Romantic" project until it showed up in my tidal new release recommendations, it is just lovely and I hope it's as much fun being John C. Reilly as he makes it look

For Your Health’s “This Bitter Garden” Out Now
For Your Health highly-anticipated new album, This Bitter Garden, is out now via 3DOT Recordings (listen here : https://go.mhe.fm/fyh_thisbittergarden).
The 13-song album’s arrival comes with a video for “With Empty Promises & Loaded Guns” (https://youtu.be/Ayeqjao1RUU). Vocalist Hayden Rodriguez explains: “The ideas behind the song and video were born of frustration with my belief that shitlibs will always sell us (poor people) down the river in favor of maintaining the status quo. Attention spans are increasingly limited and empathy seems to be a vestigial organ. Faceless bureaucracies essentially hold our lives in their hands and it seems like most people don’t care.”
On the album, Rodriquez adds: “This Bitter Garden is the first recording where we got to express ourselves as the full band we’ve been playing as for the last four years. Everyone’s voice comes through. We’ve progressed, but it still feels like For Your Health.”
These songs are a true distillation of all the sonic ideas we’ve explored previously and our different interests,” guitarist Rosa Delgado shares. “Hayden has a strong appreciation for film. We’re coupling his world-building and atmosphere with the immediacy, urgency, and brutality of our early material. We’re always striving to challenge ourselves. This Bitter Garden is an expansion of everything before.”
In the lead-up to today’s release, the Columbus-based band have released multiple singles, all with videos that capture the essence of the band and their music, including “Davenport (A Rotten Pear),” with a video directed by indie horror filmmaker Nick Holland (“Wronged,” “An Intrusion”), a gothy lyric video for “Flowers For The Worst of Them,” and a nightmarish performance clip that reads like a late ‘90s horror film for “Gaia Wept.”
This Bitter Garden is available now via 3DOT Recordings (https://store.3dotrecordings.com/), with the album offered on limited edition vinyl variants (white/cobalt with heavy splatter, and white/sea blue/black heavy splatter), cassette, and digitally.

Four Your Health Offer Final Preview of “This Bitter Garden”
For Your Health Release This Bitter Garden on June 6
For Your Health, who recently announced their signing to 3DOT Recordings, release their label debut, This Bitter Garden. on June 6. The band previews the 13-song collection with the video for “Davenport (A Rotten Pear)” (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wvAJ-o3ooI), a Southern Gothic-gone-wrong clip directed by indie horror filmmaker Nick Holland (“Wronged,” “An Intrusion”).
“These songs are a true distillation of all the sonic ideas we’ve explored previously and our different interests,” shares guitarist Rosa Delgado. “Hayden has a strong appreciation for film. We’re coupling his world-building and atmosphere with the immediacy, urgency, and brutality of our early material. We’re always striving to challenge ourselves. This Bitter Garden is an expansion of everything before.”
“This Bitter Garden is the first recording where we got to express ourselves as the full band we’ve been playing as for the last four years,” vocalist Hayden Rodriguez adds. “Everyone’s voice comes through. We’ve progressed, but it still feels like For Your Health.”
“In my head, This Bitter Garden has a dual nature,” Rodriguez continues. “You can grow fruits and vegetables in a garden to feed people, or you can grow poisonous plants. One of the main thematic elements is, ‘What happens when a place where you grow nourishment turns rotten?’ There are other themes too. You continue to nurture resentment even when it’s so far past what you intended it to be. You end up on a path.”
Pre-orders for This Bitter Garden are available now via 3DOT Recordings (https://store.3dotrecordings.com/), with the album offered on limited edition vinyl variants (white/cobalt with heavy splatter, and white/sea blue/black heavy splatter), cassette, and digitally.
This Bitter Garden follows the band’s acclaimed debut full-length, In Spite Of, which earned them “Band To Watch” status from Stereogum, praise from Pitchfork for their “screamo, post-hardcore, and genre-defying” sound, and was described by Brooklyn Vegan as “a vast array of sounds from under the umbrella of heavy music,” that “exists around the halfway point between early Daughters and the experimental late period of Fear Before the March of Flames.”
For Your Health recorded the album in 15 days, working with producer Eric Hudson at a studio “repurposed from an old church in the sticks of Illinois.”

My wife is an #immunocompromised #k12 #bced teacher who has yet to be vaccinated in BC this respiratory season despite her pleading to our BCNDP govt for access to #novavax.
She had to send another snifling, sneezing child home from her school recently. It seems parents have been knowingly sending their kids in sick and unmasked again. Quite upsetting.
Her covid conscious principal decided to send out a letter to the whole school, reminding them, yet again, not to send their kids in sick.
This should have been Dr. Bonnie Henry’s job to educate awareness and prevention, instead she gets a three figure salary to spread the covid immunity misinformation which emboldens these parents currently ignoring covid.
My wife has also been the only teacher masking for months at her new school. Recently, two other teachers remarked on her mask and began masking themselves after seeing her set an example.
This too could have been our Lead Health Official’s achievement; to inspire masking rather than pretending an ethical request is nothing but a personal restriction.
We deserve Public Health Leaders in Canada who educate and inspire action on covid rather than repeatedly encouraging complacency with constant sickness.
Dr. Bonnie Henry is paid with our tax dollars to spin lies which deceive and gaslight those few still listening.
We desperately need new public health officials in Canada. Officials who are covid conscious and aware of the havoc this virus is reeking on our communities, our province and our country.
Dr. Bonnie Henry has long since surrendered to this virus and given up on basic covid prevention for personal comfort.
Our current “health leaders” will never be able to inspire hope after publicly accepting defeat and embracing hopelessness as our new norm.
The sooner Health Leaders like Dr. Bonnie Henry and Adrian Dix are replaced, the sooner we in BC and Canada can truly start working towards a safer, healthier, more covid conscious pandemic life.
