I had much fun coming up with ways to showcase this kind of “Bank Gothic cosplaying as Copperplate Gothic” font.

A few weeks back I mentioned Dungeon, a Commodore 64 CRPG system created by David Caruso II and published in 1990 on the disk magazine Loadstar. We've made it available through emulation on itch.io for $5. It's here, and it's awesome. It's not just a way

For those not familiar with it, a brief introduction to #Fontstruct (fontstruct.com):
It's a web-based #font creation program, capable of output in both #TrueType and #OpenType. It used to be made in #Flash back in 2008 but has since been reimplemented completely in #Javascript.

In Fontstruct, you make a glyph for each character using a simple, yet deceptively powerful, tile-based editor. Every glyph is made from a selection of around 240 pre-defined bricks laid out on a grid. You have no control over the points themselves. It all comes from that tile panel!

It is weird to discover that you have a unique skill that won't even make you hireable for anything or be useful for much of anything. It's still something though. I feel confident in saying that I am good at this. #Fontstruct #creatures
Been working on monster images for the #Dungeon remake. I'm making them in #Fontstruct, which gives them a certain iconic charm, I think.
I've been slowly piecing together that modernized and improved remake of #Dungeon. One idea I had was to use symbol fonts, created at #fontstruct.com for monster parts, to give adventure creators a way to make interesting looking monsters without having to spend a lot of time in a graphics editor. Here's some of my experiments.

In 2007, Rob Meek came to us at FontShop with a wild idea: let people make fonts on the web using modular building blocks. Folks could quickly get into type design, while experiencing how difficult it is to master, thus gaining an appreciation for the craft. 15 years later, @fontstruct still has an active creator community! Some fonts made in the last 3 months:
